Clinical Research Director

Our client, a leading medical cannabis company, have asked Bryan Forrest of Lock Search Group to assist them in their search for a Clinical Research Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate the clinical research programs including P&L responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership to the clinical research team. Responsible for hiring, training, project distribution, performance management, and talent development for staff
  • Collaborate with R&D team to support development of new formulations and products to commercialization
  • Evaluate the studies’ objectives, hypotheses, scientific rationale, and patient safety
  • Responsible for the medical and scientific sections of study protocols, study reports, safety reports, regulatory submissions
  • Data management for clinical trials
  • Serve as the primary contact for all clinical trial sites for external partners and regulatory agencies
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise during the course of the studies
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for evidence-based indications for the cannabis products for data analyses, presentations, communications with regulatory agencies and research ethics boards
  • Ensure activities, policies, and operations align with company mission, regulatory requirements and GCPs
  • Provide on-time deliverables to external partners
  • Manage relationships with clinical study sites and external CROs
  • Organize clinical advisory boards, steering committees, and data safety monitoring boards
  • Maintain an updated knowledge on the industry trends. Manage participation of company at key research conferences

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant discipline (Life Science, Pharmacology, Biology, Chemistry)
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology field; knowledge in GCP, ICH, and regulations related to clinical research
  • Knowledge and experience within the medical cannabis industry
  • Experience with leading and mentoring others
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiating skills
  • Flexibility for international travel, 30%
