Director of Retail Markets

With the recreational Cannabis industry rapidly emerging, they are seeking a Director of Retail Operations to guide their success in this market.

Reporting directly to the VP of Market Development, the Director of Retail Operations will be a core member of our client’s senior team.  You are strategic, and ready to capture growth in a competitive, changing landscape. You are can foresee the possibilities of a trailblazing industry and have the operational exposure under your belt make things happen.

The Director of Retail Operations is a natural collaborator. You understand that the key to a successful retail operation is common ground, with sales, marketing and operations working together in harmony.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of new retail operations and product launches with existing retailers
  • Foster lasting supportive relationships with new and existing retail partners
  • Contribute to the development of a cohesive product line and its implementation in retail locations
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Human Resources to develop employee development and product education programs
  • Ensure consistent execution of marketing and in-store advertising campaigns along with marketing leadership
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships and opportunities for the brand
  • Conduct strategic analysis to identify growth opportunities In collaboration with the director of Sales
  • Establish and maintain systems and procedures that will guide the success of retail operations
  • Report on high-level operational success metrics as required

    Requirements
  • Post-Secondary education in Business, Retail Strategy Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree is an asset
  • 8+ years of experience in retail operations. Exposure to alcohol or Cannabis industries a strong asset
  • Proven track record developing cohesive retail operations that deliver superior customer value in a highly competitive, complex environment   
  • Ability to motivate, develop and manage high achieving retail teams
  • Demonstrated success working in a cross-functional, collaborative environment and sharing leadership roles across departments
  • Robust knowledge of cannabis products (both existing and emerging)
